Andrew Mount's Racing Tips 14.07.23

Andrew made a good profit with his buy of WILLIAM BUICK at Newmarket on Thursday (market made up at 70) and he has three recommended bets/trades on Friday, July 14th.

NEWMARKET JOCKEYS

I was with WILLIAM BUICK on day on one of Newmarket’s July Festival when he had two winners and two seconds from his six rides, and I see no reason to desert him today. He gets the ball rolling with TAGABAWA in the 1m2f handicap (1.50), who did brilliantly to finish sixth of 19 to Desert Hero in the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot, as he sat too close to the suicidally fast early pace. He started at just 6-1 that day on his turf debut and Buick prefers him to stablemate Local Dynasty. STAR OF MYSTERY is long odds-on for the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes (2.25), while last year’s winner PROSPEROUS VOYAGE could again pick up points in the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes (3.35 if the rain stays away. Sea The Stars newcomer EMPEROR’S STAR looks a likely type on paper in the 7f maiden for colts/geldings (4.10) and Buick’s only previous ride on HARRY MAGNUS (4.45) produced a 5-1 handicap success in a field of 17 on the Rowley Mile. Buick signs of with CONQUISTADOR (5.20), second on his flank (third overall) in the big 5f handicap at Royal Ascot.

Recommendation: Buy WILLIAM BUICK in Newmarket Jockeys

ASCOT 2.15

Jockey Kaiya Fraser was in winning form at Newbury last night and he might be able to get a tune out of GLOBAL ESTEEM in the straight-mile apprentice handicap that gets proceedings underway at Ascot. John Gallagher’s six-year-old disappointed at Epsom last time but that track wouldn’t have suited. Four of his five wins have come on straight courses, three at this time of year, and his Ascot record reads 2nd of 14 (4-1), 1st (25-1), 4th (14-1), 3rd (11-2) and 5th of 15 (beaten by less than three lengths at 10-1), suggesting he’ll be there or thereabouts once more. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or back him each-way (17-2 at the time of writing).

CHESTER 8.05

COUNT D’ORSAY challenged on the quickest trip of ground (the centre of the track) when successful at Hamilton last time and it’s possible that Tim Easterby’s veteran was flattered in that Class 3 handicap. He’s won just once from 40 starts since September 2020 and, like most from his yard, he has struggled to back up a win in the past. Sell in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market. Fixed odds punters might want to side with ORIGINTRAIL now that she returns to the scene of her latest success.

Recommendation: Oppose COUNT D’ORSAY in Chester 8.05
