Andrew starts the new week with two recommended bets/trades on the all-weather on Monday, January 15th.

LINGFIELD 3.50

The Jack Jones-trained CHAGALL looks a big price (5-1 with Spreadex at the time of writing), considering that he’s won on his last three visits to Lingfield, twice with plenty up his sleeve. His trainer has a fine overall record in Class 6 races on the all-weather, scoring with 19 of the 65 qualifiers (29.2% strike-rate) for a profit of £57.48 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 10.11, A/E = 1.88). The stronger the early pace the better for the eight-year-old and I’m expecting Pink Lily to take them along at a decent clip. Buy Chagall in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back CHAGALL in Lingfield 3.50

WOLVERHAMPTON 7.00

Antony Brittain has gone 107 days and 64 runners since his last win, but this is usually the time of year to side with his runners and he had a couple run well in defeat last week – Northgate was second at 20-1 and Inexplicable wasn’t beaten far when a 12-1 third. Brittain has won with 53 of his 404 runners in January/February for a profit of £12.63 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 44.32, A/E = 1.20) and TATHMEEN, who won three times from mid-January to mid-February last year, looks very interesting despite the absence since October. Confidence is tempered slightly by the 76-day break and it should be noted that he’s entered up twice later this week – at Newcastle on Wednesday and Southwell on Thursday – and he has a great record in January/February after a recent outing (within ten days), landing six of his 18 starts (+£31.25 to a £1 level stake at SP) and placing second or third in six of the 12 defeats.

Recommendation: Back TATHMEEN in Wolverhampton 7.00
