Andrew Mount's Racing Tips

Andrew has been in good form this week and has three recommended bets/trades at Newbury, Leopardstown and Hamilton on Friday, May 19th.

NEWBURY 2.05

There’s plenty of early pace on offer in this 20-runner 1m2f handicap and it could be set up for those ridden patiently. The Marcus Tregoning-trained WISPER looks well berthed in stall 5 and it’s interesting to see her out again just 17 days after her reappearance 12-1 success at Brighton. Her trainer does well when bringing a last-time-out winner back to the track within 28 days, scoring with 95 of the 361 qualifiers this century (26.3% strike-rate) for a profit of £89.15 to a £1 level stake at SP. The five-year-old has finished in the first four in nine of her ten starts for her current yard and was a close-up fifth in the other, suggesting she’s an ideal buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or each-way bet.

Andrew Mount's Recommendation: Back WISPER in Newbury 2.05

LEOPARSTOWN 6.20

GRADULATIONS, wearing a Monty Roberts rug, became upset in the stalls when 5-1 for a Sligo handicap 72 hours ago and missed the break by several lengths as a result. She managed to get back into contention but met trouble when coming with her run and was eased down to finish sixth of the nine runners. She left the firm impression that she would have gone close at least had she broken on terms and is worth another chance tonight. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Andrew Mount's Recommendation: Back GRADULATIONS in Leopardstown 6.20

HAMILTON 7.26

Four of BURJ MALINKA’s top five RPRs (Racing Post Ratings) have come on officially soft going, the other on good to soft, and the drying conditions could count against the Adrian Nicholls-trained five-year-old in this 6f Class 4 handicap. He’s well drawn (stall 1 of 6) to blast off down the middle but he’s finished unplaced in both previous runs in this grade and it seems likely that he’ll help to tee it up for a closer. Hopefully, that is IRIS DANCER (stall 4), a big eyecatcher when fourth over course and distance last time. She had the worst of the draw that day and did well to finish so close after being switched to challenge down the stands’ side rail, the slowest part of the track. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Andrew Mount's Recommendation: Back IRIS DANCER in Hamilton 7.26
