Andrew heads to Redcar – the only surviving afternoon Flat meeting – for two recommended bets/trades on Friday, October 20th.

REDCAR 2.10

KATS BOB was one of several runners who were disadvantaged by taking the stands’ side route in last month’s Ayr Bronze Cup when the better ground was down the centre of the track, finishing 13th of the 20 runners. Iain Jardine’s five-year-old bounced back to score with something in hand at Newcastle next time – his first success on the all-weather – and can follow up in this 6f handicap. Soft ground holds no fears and though only seventh of 19 on his only course outing that was a good effort from an unfavourable high draw. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back KATS BOB in Redcar 2.10

REDCAR 3.20

PREMIER OPTION is a ten-race maiden but might be capable of breaking his duck in this weak 5f handicap. He proved unsuited to Newcastle’s Tapeta surface on his all-weather debut last time, trailing home last of the eight runners after hanging left towards the slowest part of the track, but will be happier back on slow turf. The Tim Easterby-trained three-year-old has only had three runs on good to soft or softer turf since his juvenile debut, making the frame in two of them (he had the worst of the draw in the other). He’s better equipped to handle deep ground than the majority of his rivals, looks well drawn and can be supported each-way with Spreadex in the fixed odds betting or bought in the 50-25-10 market.

Recommendation: Back PREMIER OPTION in Redcar 3.20
