Andrew Mount's Racing Tips 21.07.23

Andrew successfully opposed SUPER CUB (9th, 5-1) on Thursday and has two recommended bets/trades on Friday, July 21st.

NEWBURY JOCKEYS

ROB HORNBY has six rides at NEWBURY today and, though three are priced at around 33-1 or even bigger, he looks worth a buy in the Spreadex JOCKEYS MARKET. Andrew Balding’s juveniles often peak on their third career start, suggesting that JAKIMA could take a step forward and get in the points in the fillies’ maiden (1.50). Hornby’s boss Ralph Beckett is in fantastic form (five winners from his last 11 runners) and newcomer ALLEGORICAL is no forlorn hope against odds-on Warm Spell in the 3.00. Jonny Portman’s ENOCHDHU beat only one home at Salisbury last time, but the ground was much faster than he prefers and his two other turf runs this term – a soft-ground Windsor win and Sandown runner-up effort on good to soft – suggest he could make the frame in the 3.35 if the rain arrives in sufficient quantity. Ralph Beckett’s ALBA LONGA will also appreciate any ease in the ground in the 4.10, while PALMAR BAY, who accounted for subsequent July Stakes winner Jasour at Salisbury last time, has an obvious chance in the 4.45. ROAR EMOTION Is a big price in the 5.20 but, hopefully, we’ll have covered the spread by then.

Recommendation: Buy ROB HORNBY in Newbury Jockey

HAYDOCK 2.40

PRINCESS ALEX could only finish fourth of the five runners when 11-4 for a 5f restricted fillies’ maiden at Hamilton on last months’ debut but can be expected to improve considerably for the experience. She was weak in the betting just before the off and ended up racing wide of where the action unfolded. The Dark Angel filly was also the Nick Bradley-owned second string in that race behind narrow 2-1 runner-up Bellarchi, who went one better at Catterick earlier this week. Karl Burke does well in restricted novice company with horses who had the benefit of previous experience, scoring with 20 of the 61 qualifiers (32.8% strike-rate) for a profit of £89.97 to a £1 level stake at SP. The step up to 6f should suit and Princess Alex can be bought in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

Recommendation: Back PRINCESS ALEX in Haydock 2.40
