Andrew kicks off a new week with two recommended bets/trades at Catterick and Bangor on Monday, August 21st. Follow his tips this week and all year round on the Spreadex blog with the lowdown on his latest picks below:

CATTERICK 3.35

At the time of writing HONDO was trading as the 11-4 second favourite for this 1m4f restricted novice contest but Roger Fell & Sean Murray’s three-year-old looks worth opposing. He was flattered by June’s three-length 40-1 fourth of nine at Thirsk where he raced wide on the better ground and has finished unplaced at odds of 7-2 and 9-1 in his two subsequent starts, latterly when making his handicap debut over 1m2f at Doncaster. He kept on well from off the pace that day but so did the 16-1 runner-up, Bosc Girl, who beat only one home at Chepstow on her next outing. Sell in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.

Recommendation: Oppose HONDO in Catterick 3.35

BANGOR JOCKEYS

BRIAN HUGHES has seven rides at Bangor today, five of them currently priced at single-figure odds, and looks worth a buy in the Spreadex BANGOR JOCKEYS Market. Hat-trick seeker THE BIG JETAWAY, winner of a handicap chase over course and distance on his latest start, should pick up at least ten points in the 4.30 despite reverting to hurdles, while GEROMINO won by six and a half lengths on his only previous course visit and could go well in the 5.00 despite pulling up at Newton Abbot last time. GREY SKIES (6.05) needs to prove his stamina but had excuses (lost a shoe) when fifth over track and trip last time. Donald McCain has a fine record with his handicap hurdlers at Bangor, scoring with 762 of the 290 qualifiers (21.4% strike-rate) since the start of 2011 for a profit of £95.16 to a £1 level stake at SP. Hughes’ mounts CHOIRMASTER (6.35), MINELLA PLUS (7.05), ON CLOUD NINE (7.35) and NEVER NO TROUBLE (8.05) all qualify on this angle and should be in the mix in their respective races. Fixed odds punters might want to combine some of his rides in a multiple bet with Spreadex.

Recommendation: Buy BRIAN HUGHES in Bangor Jockeys
