Andrew found 15-2 Chelmsford scorer MAVERICK STYLE on Thursday and has two recommended bets/trades on Friday, December 22nd.
All seven previous winners of this 2m5f conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle were aged five or six (those outside this aged range have a zero from 30 record) and six of the seven winners had raced within the past six weeks. There are three qualifiers today – Magic Seven, Rebel Intentions and DELGANY BOBBY BLUE, with preference for the Dan Skelton runner. The five-year-old returned from wind surgery with a one-length runner-up effort at Uttoxeter in October before catching the eye with good late work into a 25-1 third in a 2m Class 2 introductory hurdle at Wetherby. The step up in trip will suit on his handicap debut and he can be bought in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or backed each-way in the fixed odds betting. I’ve saved on MAGIC SEVEN.
Recommendation: Back DELGANNY BOBBY BLUE in Ascot 12.45
REDBRIDGE RAMBLER hasn’t had many opportunities over today’s 2m trip and is taken to cause a big upset. Martin Keighley’s five-year-old needed his rules debut when a respectable 16-1 sixth to Norman Fletcher (now rated 126) in a Southwell bumper and he also ran into some useful types when third at Uttoxeter on his hurdles debut in May. The winner of that 2m contest, Lookaway, ran well in the Greatwood and is now rated 136 while the runner-up, Gold Link, saw his mark rise to 122 when scoring over fences at Huntingdon in October. Three non-staying efforts over longer trips followed before a solid second at Huntingdon when returned to 2m in late October. The son of Mahler could only finish a 22-length 13th of 17 to Impose Toi at Cheltenham last time but that was a hot Class 3 novices’ handicap, and he raced wide when the inside route was a big advantage. We’ve already seen the tenth and 11th from that race both win at the next time of asking, the drop to Class 4 level will suit and his handicap mark of 102 could underestimate his ability. Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or back him each-way.
Recommendation: Back REDBRIDGE RAMBLER in Ascot 2.30
