Andrew Mount's Racing Tips 24.10.23

Andrew made a good profit of 33x his stake with his support of KORKER (won 15-8) and opposition to FLAGRANT DELTIEP (4th) on Monday and has two recommended bets/trades on Tuesday, October 24th.

EXETER 2.00

There are a few horses at the head of the betting in this 18-runner amateur riders’ handicap hurdle that might prove vulnerable – CAWTHORNE CRACKER was perhaps flattered when arriving late to score over a shorter trip here last time as the front-runners went off too hard and the pace collapsed, SASSIFIED tends to jump out to his left and might struggle now racing right-handed again and PITTSBURG also came late when places in the same pace-collapse race as Cawthorne Cracker. The one I like is Chris Gordon’s STANLEY PINCOMBE – he’ll appreciate big field/strong pace scenario and Molly Landau’s four rides over hurdles for the yard have produced form figures of 5211 (2-4). Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back STANLEY PINCOMBE in Exeter 2.00

EXETER 3.00

In recent years, youth has come to the fore in this 3m handicap chase and backing the youngest runner(s) would have been a profitable angle…

Year / Horse / Age / Result

2022 / Red Happy / 5yo / WON 9-4

2021 / From The Heart / 7yo / WON 6-1

2020 / Kitty’s Light / 4yo / WON 9-2

2019 / Golden Sunrise / 6yo / WON 7-1

2019 / Reikers Island / 6yo / 4th 3-1

2018 / Beau Du Brizais / 6yo / 2nd (11-10, beaten by 0.5L)

2017 / Timeforwest / 5yo / 5th of 16, 20-1

2016 / Rock Of Leon / 5yo / UR 12-1 (6yos finished 1st & 2nd)

..so concentrating on the three six-year-olds (the other eight runners are aged eight or older) could be the way to go. IBERIO won a bumper at Newton Abbot but his other three wins came over hurdles at Taunton in February/March and he might not be fully wound up for his seasonal and chase debut. LOUNGE LIZARD is a quirky so-and-so but has finished in the first three in ten of his 12 starts, with the exceptions coming on his hurdles and chase debuts. Both wins came when making all in small fields (four and five ran) but looking at the pace map he’s unlikely to get his own way in front. By process of elimination, we are left with Dan Skelton’s SNIPE, who arrived late on the scene when making a winning chase debut at Southwell last time. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.

Recommendation: Back SNIPE in Exeter 3.00
