Andrew Mount's Racing Tips

Andrew heads to the Flat turf meetings at Brighton and Leicester for two recommended bets/trades on Tuesday, May 30th.

BRIGHTON JOCKEYS

This year, JOSEPHINE GORDON has won on four of her six Brighton rides to start at single-figure prices, and she has some live chances this afternoon. BIG TIME MAYBE just held on for a 9-1 front-running victory under Gordon over course and distance last week and might be able to repeat the trick in what looks a less competitive event (2.10). SEATTLE KING (3.40) struggled to see out the 1m4f trip when only fifth here last week but the cut back to 1m2f will suit (he’s two from two over track and trip), while GRAND CENTRAL (4.40), a 20-1 runner up at Wolverhampton last time, could pick up points despite his 16-race maiden status. BOBBY ON THE BEAT’s five wins have come on Polytrack but the drop to Class 6 level and prospect of an easy lead could see him break his turf duck in the 5.10. Buy JOSEPHINE GORDON at 33 in the Spreadex BRIGHTON JOCKEYS market. Fixed odds punters might want to use her mounts in a multiple bet.

Andrew Mount's Recommendation: Buy JOSEPHINE GORDON in Brighton jockeys

LEICESTER 1.55

OCEAN RUNNER heads the betting at 5-6 with Spreadex for this 5f novice contest, but Charlie Appleby’s Blue Point colt has the worst of the draw in stall 10 of 10 (adjusted for non-runner Vice Captain) and he beat only one home when 8-13 favourite at Ascot on his debut. There was plenty of noise about Blue Point as a sire when four of his first eight representatives won but the score is now just six from 43 (14%) for a loss of £17.80 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 10.19). Five of those winners came first-time out and those with previous experience are just one from 16. Sell in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market. Fixed odds punters might want to chance newcomer LA HABANERA, well drawn in stall 2 and a 40-1 shot with Spreadex at the time of writing.

Andrew Mount's Recommendation: Oppose OCEAN RUNNER in Leicester 1.55
