Andrew Mount's Racing Tips 30.06.23

Andrew successfully opposed GIRL MAGIC (5th, 4-1) on Thursday and has three recommended bets/trades across two races on Friday, June 30th.

CHESTER 5.40

There’s pace on here from stalls 2, 3, 4 and 11 and this 7f amateur riders’ handicap could be set up for a closer. DANZAN, put in as the 5-1 second favourite by the Racing Post, looks way too short given his front-running style, stall 11, and the fact that he raced on the ‘golden highway’ when successful at Thirsk ten days ago. MABRE (stall 1) has an inexperienced jockey on board but will surely be finishing to good effect from the inside berth and looks worth supporting with Spreadex, as does STARSHIBA (stall 10), despite his wide draw. He’s 0-20 on turf but has the assistance of Matthew Ennis, whose 38 turf rides since racing resumed after lockdown in June 2020 have produced eight winners for a profit of £47.06 to the usual £1 stake. Buy both MABRE and STARSHIBA in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or back the pair each-way.

Recommendation: Back MABRE and STARSHIBA in Chester 5.40

CHESTER 7.25

Much was made of Andrew Balding’s lack of winners from his 26 Royal Ascot runners but the expected number of winners, based on their prices, was only 1.44 and it was a case of misfortune rather than the yard being out of form. He had several run well in defeat – Coltrane was just denied in the Gold Cup and 20-1 shot Flora of Bermuda ‘won’ the race on the far side in the Queen Mary. Normal service has been resumed this week and the stable’s eight runners on Wednesday produced three winners (12-1, 7-2 and 6-5). Chester has always been a happy hunting ground for Balding and CHASSERAL, third best of the stands’ side group when eighth of 21 in a 6f Heritage Handicap at York last time, looks interesting now up in trip to an extended 7f. The race should be run top suit his patient style and he can be bought in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or backed each-way in the fixed odds betting.

Recommendation: Back CHASSERAL in Chester 7.25
