Andrew Mount's Tips 22.06.23

Andrew made a good profit with his buy of DOUBLE DRAW at Ascot on Wednesday (market made up at 166) and has three recommended bets/trades on Thursday, June 22nd.

ASCOT 3.05

Those drawn in stalls 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 are just one from 55 in the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot since the draw reversed in 2011. The sole winner was Hukum, who was incredibly well handicapped off a mark of 90 (he’s now rated 122). That was a very strong renewal with Gold Cup hope Subjectivist, third off 94, now rated 123. Most of those drawn low today are big prices but they include 6-1 shot BURGLAR, the mount of Frankie Dettori, and he could be value to oppose. We’ve had winners of this race drawn 22, 20, 17, 16 and 14 in recent years and the best way to tackle the race is to buy DOUBLE DRAW OF WINNER with Spreadex.

Recommendation: Buy DOUBLE DRAW OF WINNER in Ascot 3.05

ASCOT 5.35

Kevin Ryan clearly has a soft spot for the sire Lope De Vega, scoring multiple wins with the likes of Mount Tahan, Flaming Spear, Weekend Offender and Roulston Scar. In total, he’s 24 from 134 (18%) with Lope De Vega progeny for a profit of £16.40 to a £1 level stake at SP. CAPTAIN WINTERS has contributed two of those wins (from seven starts) and gamely landed a four-runner Listed contest when 12-1 at Sandown last time. That effort took his record outside of his seasonal debuts to 21351 (2-5), with the sole unplaced effort excusable as he was poorly drawn at Pontefract. He looks well drawn in stall 15 – it looked to be the usual case of the wider the better on the round course here yesterday – and he’s worth buying in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or backing each-way.

Recommendation: Back CAPTAIN WINTERS in Ascot 5.35

ASCOT 6.10

BOPEDRO’s two runs over today’s 7f trip for current trainer David O’Meara both resulted in solid efforts – a 22-1 second of 15 at Doncaster (heavy) last backend and a 9-1 second of ten at York (good to firm) last time out. His two runs on Ascot’s straight course – both over 1m – produced in-the-frame efforts and I’m not hugely worried by his middle draw in stall 14 as he’s drawn near the pace, which is likely to come from TYLOS (stall 15) and THE GATEKEEPER (stall 20). Buy in the Spreadex 50-30-20-10 market or back him each-way in the fixed odds betting.

Recommendation: Back BOPEDRO in Ascot 6.10
