With international football returning this week with EURO 2024 qualification continuing, the US Open tennis gathering pace into its closing stages and the 2023 Rugby World Cup beginning on Friday, our traders look at some of the potential betting angles ahead of the big action over the next few days in the latest Bets of the Week!
The below prices are indicative and may be subject to fluctuation
Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.
FOOTBALL – UKRAINE V ENGLAND
The Three Lions currently sit top of their qualifying group ahead of the hosts and Italy and will be hoping to make it back-to-back victories over the Ukrainians after success at Wembley in the second matchday. In fact, this match-up has generally been a favourable one for Gareth Southgate’s side and included a 4-0 drubbing in the quarterfinals of the previous EUROs.
England captain Harry Kane scored a double in that match and was also on the scoresheet in the reverse fixture in this qualifying cycle. In fact, he scored the first match goal in both matches. As such, Harry Kane Player Goal Minutes may be of interest for spread betting punters.
In the match markets, England start with a Supremacy spread of 1.15 – 1.35 and 2/5 on the fixed odds with Ukraine out at 6/1 to grab a surprise win and 16/5 for the draw. You can view all of our markets below as well as keeping an eye out on pre-match PRICE BOOSTS!

TENNIS – US OPEN
At the time of writing, the US Open has reached the quarter-final stage and we are still on course for a blockbuster final and next chapter of the Novak Djokovic – Carlos Alcaraz rivalry. Indeed, the two are available at a spread of 56 – 61 on our Name the Finalists Index market. This market settles at 100 if both reach the final, 25 if only one does, and 0 if none do.
However, things are far from certain with plenty of potential storylines remaining in the tournament closing stages. For example, this is the first time since 2005 where three American male players have reached the quarter-finals, and at least one is guaranteed to reach the semi-finals as young gun Ben Shelton takes on last year’s losing semi-finalist Frances Tiafoe in a blockbuster clash. Before that, American number one Taylor Fritz will take on Djokovic with hopes of creating a massive shock.
We have several markets still live including our special spread markets like Top Dogs and Home Town Hero, while if you fancy a first American winner at Flushing Meadows since Andy Roddick in 2003, the current outright fixed odds prices have both Fritz and Tiafoe at 20/1, and Shelton at 50/1. It should be noted that the young Shelton holds the fastest serve record at this tournament with a whopping 149mph (as well as leading the ace count) – could he be the dark horse to back?
RUGBY – 2023 WORLD CUP
The end of the week sees the beginning of the 2023 Rugby Union World Cup as France begin the tournament with a mammoth opening tie against the New Zealand All-Blacks. It promises to be an enthralling meeting and interestingly although New Zealand have prevailed in four of the last five meetings between the teams, France were victorious 40-25 in the last match-up back in 2021 in a friendly international. The last World Cup meeting in 2015 was not a pleasant memory for the French though, as they suffered a brutal 62-13 loss.
If the All-Blacks were to repeat a victory by that margin of 49, you can currently back that result at a massive 80/1 in our Winning Margin markets! Meanwhile, a second consecutive 15+ winning margin victory for France can be backed at 13/2.
In terms of our Tournament Markets, we have a wide range of betting markets to choose from in both spreads and fixed odds betting. For spreads, our special markets include Fastest Drop Goals and Tries by Substitutes! Our fixed odds markets include Top Points Scorers and Try Scorers by team, as well as outright betting and more.
CRICKET – ENGLAND V NEW ZEALAND 4TH T20
Finally, cricket fans will be able to enjoy the fourth T20 between England and New Zealand which begins on Tuesday evening.
The Kiwis showcased their battling attitude at Edgbaston on Sunday afternoon and managed to give themselves a sniff of a drawn four-game series against England with bringing the ledger back to 2-1 in favour of the hosts. New Zealand now have the opportunity to close out a fourth consecutive drawn or won bilateral series in this format.
As always, Spreadex have a wide range of betting markets on both the spreads and fixed odds. The England/New Zealand winning margin spread stands at 13 – 21, with Jonny Bairstow having a Player Performance spread of 29 – 33 and Devon Conway at 3/1 to be Top Batsman for the visitors, and a Tie for Most Sixes at 8/1.
