Many of the world’s best players will be in action from the 16th to the 21st of November in the 2024 European qualifiers. European teams exercised their supremacy over the 2022 World Cup - occupying spots in all four quarter-finals, so the level of competition should be elite. Read on for a detailed Euro 2024 guide on the groups, teams and standings.
Where Is Euro 2024?
The 2024 European Championships will take place across ten world-class stadiums in Germany. Three-time winners Germany will play host to the iconic competition - being played in Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Cologne, Leipzig, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen, Berlin and Hamburg.
Where Is The Euro 2024 Final?
The final will take place on the 14th of July at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.
A Look At Group A
Spain, Scotland, Norway, Georgia and Cyprus have landed in Group A. Spain and Scotland have both already qualified for the Euros - both sitting at the top of the group with 15 points a piece.
Spain thundered through the group scoring a whopping 19 goals so far - only losing to Scotland. Meanwhile, Scotland also only lost to Spain with wins against Norway, Georgia, Spain and Cyprus racked up. Both Georgia and Cyprus have failed to qualify for the finals - while Norway will have some more work to do to ensure a spot in the playoffs. Cyprus vs. Spain, Georgia vs. Scotland, Spain vs. Cyprus and Norway travel to Hampden Park over the week of the 16th of November.
A Look At Group B
France, the Netherlands, Greece, the Republic of Ireland and Gibraltar occupy Group B. 2022 World Cup finalists France emerged as one of the football spread betting favourites to win the 2024 Euros enjoying a 100% win record in Group B. The Netherlands also have all but qualified putting Greece to the sword in their own backyard 1-0 on October 16th - but will have to exercise consistency to ensure a spot on the plane for Germany.
Gilbratar’s fate has already been sealed failing to score a single goal all through the group while the Republic of Ireland failed to book a spot after only notching up 2 wins. France vs. Gibraltar, the Netherlands vs. Northern Ireland and Greece play undefeated France and Gibraltar vs. the Netherlands will be played out over the week of the 16th of November.
A Look At Group C
England, Ukraine, Italy, North Macedonia and Malta are battling it out in Group C. The Three Lions were naturally the team to progress. The Euro 2020 finalists failed to disappoint having an impressive campaign - with 5 wins and one draw - cementing a place in the finals after dismantling a lacklustre Italy outfit 3-1 back on October 17th.
Ukraine and Italy will now contest the final automatic place in Group C - with North Macedonia and Malta already eliminated. England vs Malta, Italy vs North Macedonia, North Macedonia vs England and Ukraine vs Italy all go toe-to-toe the week of the 16th November.
A Look At Group D
Turkiye, Wales, Croatia, Armenia and Latvia are all in Group D. Turkiye barely missed a beat in qualifying after throwing the gauntlet down against Latvia winning 4-0 on October 15th and securing their spot in Germany. Wales will join them in November if they win in Armenia and Croatia lose in Latvia. Both sides are on 10 points and desperate to conclude the group with an automatic spot.
Armenia will be unable to finish in the top two if they lose against Wales, or if they draw and Croatia win. Latvia all but sealed their fate after a lamentable performance only winning one game against Armenia. Armenia vs Wales, Latvia vs Croatia, Croatia vs Armenia and Wales vs Turkiye in the final Group games of the competition.
A Look At Group E
Albania, Czechia, Poland, Moldova and the Faroe Islands all occupy Group E. Not one of the outfits has officially qualified yet for the finals - but Albania will book a spot if they avoid defeat in Moldova - or if Poland wins at home to Czechia. Poland has no choice but to win for any hope of a top-two finish in the group.
The Faroe Islands failed to find a way to the finals sitting on only one point in Group E. Meanwhile, 4th placed Moldova still has a chance of supplanting Poland if they win against Czechia, a shock win against Albania will put them into second place.
Moldova vs Albania, Poland vs Czechia, Albania vs Faroe Islands and Czechia vs Moldova will all be played over match day 9.
A Look At Group F
Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Azerbaijan and Estonia all find themselves in Group F. Belgium qualified by winning in Austria on Matchday 7, and their opponents followed suit on Matchday 8 by putting a plucky Azerbaijan to the sword 1-0. Both Belgium and Austria sit on 16 points in the group - a whopping 10 points ahead of 3rd-placed Sweden.
Estonia denied themselves a seat on the plane to Germany after a woeful campaign - with 5 losses and 1 draw while Azerbaijan didn’t fare much better - with only 1 win, a draw and 4 losses. Switzerland has also been denied a spot in Germany for the 2024 Euros with two wins and three losses.
Azerbaijan vs Sweden, Estonia vs Austria, Belgium vs Azerbaijan, Sweden vs Estonia and Belgium vs Sweden are all to be played out.
A Look At Group G
Hungary, Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria and Lithuania are in Group G. Hungary will qualify if they beat Bulgaria on the 16th of November or if Montenegro fails to win at home to Lithuania. Serbia will also cement 2nd place if they win their next game against Montenegro or if Montenegro loses to Lithuania.
Bulgaria and Lithuania both have fallen short of competing in Germany next year - both only notching up 2 points in the group.
Bulgaria vs Hungary, Montenegro vs Lithuania, Hungary vs Montenegro and Serbia vs Bulgaria will all be played out from the 17th - 19th of November.
A Look At Group H
Slovenia, Denmark, Finland, Kazakhstan, Northern Ireland and San Marino all sit in Group H. Group H looks set to go to the wire. Slovenia will qualify if they beat Denmark, or if they draw and Kazakhstan fails to beat San Marino, or if Kazakhstan loses. Denmark will qualify if they beat Slovenia, or if Kazakhstan do not beat San San Marino.
Northern Ireland and San Marino have already been swallowed by the non-qualifying trap door while Slovenia and Denmark have 16 points and Finland and Kazakhstan both have 12. This group is wide open which will subsequently inject a plethora of motivation for the first four teams in the group.
Kazakhstan vs San Marino, Finland vs Northern Ireland, Denmark vs Slovenia, Northern Ireland vs Denmark, San Marino vs Finland and Slovenia vs Kazakhstan will be played on November 17th and 20th.
A Look At Group I
Romania, Switzerland, Israel, Kosovo, Belarus and Andorra are in Group I. Romania sits at the top of the group on 16 points and will secure qualification if Israel loses to Switzerland and Romania then beats Israel. Meanwhile, the Swiss will qualify if they beat Israel and Kosovo.
Israel sits in a precarious position in the table - with a chance of automatically qualifying if they win all three of their next games and Switzerland loses both - but this is very unlikely. Kosovo, Belarus and Andorra all have failed to book a spot in the finals.
Israel vs Switzerland, Belarus vs Andorra, Israel vs Romania, Switzerland vs Kosovo Andorra vs Israel, Kosovo vs Belarus, Romania vs Switzerland and Kosovo vs. Israel all are played between the 15th-21st of November.
A Look At Group J
Portugal, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Iceland and Liechtenstein all share Group J. Led by five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, Euro champions Portugal qualified by dismantling Slovakia at home on October 13th with the help of their stalwart Ronaldo. Slovakia will join them on the trip to Germany if they avoid defeat against Iceland.
Iceland, who - along with Luxembourg - must win to have any chance of finishing in the top two. Although, Luxembourg is guaranteed a playoff spot just in case they fall short. Liechtenstein sits rooted at the bottom of the table on 0 points - failing to qualify for the championships.
Liechtenstein vs Portugal, Luxembourg vs Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia vs Iceland, Bosnia and Herzegovina vs Slovakia, Liechtenstein vs Luxembourg and Portugal vs Iceland will be played between the 16th-29th of November.
