Championship Gameweek 42 Betting Preview

MIDDLESBROUGH v NORWICH CITY, FRIDAY 8PM

Norwich are the first of our partner clubs in action when they travel north to the Riverside to face Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough. Boro briefly flirted with a push at the top two spots, but their form has fallen away of late, with the play-offs the likeliest destination for tonight’s 19/20 shots.

The Canaries find themselves just outside the top six and a win tonight at 29/10 would do wonders for their play-off hopes with a draw tonight available at 14/5.

Chuba Akpom has been in scintillating form this season and the former Arsenal man has been boosted to 6/4 to get himself on the scoresheet this evening with his opposite number Teemu Pukki pushed out from 21/10 to 12/5 to get amongst the goals at the Riverside.

READING v BURNLEY, SATURDAY 3PM

Eight games without a win, one point from safety after a six point deduction, and without a permanent manager having dispensed with the services of Paul Ince during the week, it’s safe to say Reading are not a happy club at the minute.

The last thing the Royals need is to face a Burnley side who still have a shout of beating Reading’s record points haul in the second tier. Reading are 6/1 to end their winless run tomorrow, with the draw at 14/5 and Burnley strong 4/7 favourites for their trip to the Madejski Stadium.

In the spread betting markets, Total Goals is 2.4-2.6 whilst Burnley have been favoured on the Supremacy at 0.95-1.15.

STOKE CITY v WEST BROMWICH ALBION, SATURDAY 3PM

West Brom are currently five points off a play-off spot and with the games running out, the Baggies will need to be pretty much flawless if they are to be in the mix for promotion come the end of the season.

Carlos Corberan’s side are without a win in four and they face a trip to Stoke this weekend who are themselves in patchy form. The Potters have nothing to play for but they are 13/10 favourites to win whereas a vital three points for the visitors is available to back at 9/4. The draw is priced at 23/10 and with Stoke seeing two of their last four finish scoreless, there may be a bit of money for a 0-0 draw at 7/1.

SWANSEA CITY v HUDDERSFIELD TOWN, SATURDAY 3PM

Ladies and gentlemen, Neil Warnock is very much at it again. Having performed numerous escape acts over the years, the wily old manager has given Huddersfield a real shot at survival after an impressive unbeaten run has lifted the Terriers to 19th in the league.

Having beaten Watford 3-2 on their last away trip, the Yorkshire side are 4/1 to record a success against a Swansea side whose season looks done. Despite their recent run of form being impressive, Huddersfield were comprehensively outplayed in Monday’s 2-2 draw with Blackburn and Swansea are 4/6 favourites to collect three points this weekend.

Town’s last three matches have seen six, five, and four goals respectively and BTTS at the Liberty Stadium is 5/6 with over 2.5 goals priced at 10/11.

SUNDERLAND v BIRMINGHAM CITY, SATURDAY 3PM

We round off our preview with Sunderland’s clash with Birmingham City at the Stadium Of Light. The Mackems are another side who need to be pretty much flawless for the rest of the season if they are to find themselves in the play-off mix and Tony Mowbray’s boys are a shade of odds-on at 10/11 to get the job done tomorrow.

Our traders have the draw at 13/5 whilst a success for Birmingham, who are unbeaten in their last four, is 7/2. We have a few specials on the game tomorrow with loan star Amad Diallo 7/5 to hit the back of the net whilst a home win with both sides hitting the back of the net is boosted to 18/5 from 3/1.
