Wednesday and Thursday's Big Winning Bets

landing-page-midweek-260124

There will be a new winner of the Australian Open after Jannik Sinner dumped out betting favourite Novak Djokovic earlier today and he will face the winner of Daniil Medvedev’s clash with Alexander Zverev.

Elsewhere punters who sided with India in our cricket spread betting markets are in the green at the moment, but frankly, the less said about that the better. Instead for our review of the big winning bets of the last few days we turn our eyes to the Championship, midweek racing and Sinner’s superb slam success.

LEEDS UNITED v NORWICH CITY – TOTAL GOAL MINUTES (SETTLED AT 16)

There have been a few football betting opportunities this week, but one match that may have slipped under the radar was Leeds’ 1-0 win over partner club Norwich City on Wednesday night.

Elland Road is one of the toughest trips in the Football League at the moment and with the Peacocks taking a 16th minute lead through a Patrick Bamford header, Canaries fans could have been left fearing the worst.

Instead, David Wagner’s side showed plenty of grit and determination to make life difficult for their hosts, albeit without managing to find a way past Ilan Meslier in the Leeds net as they made it 11 wins from 12 matches in LS11.

United’s narrow success was also good news for those who sold on our Total Goal Minutes football spread betting market. With these two outfits regularly amongst the goals, the spread was 159-174, but the solo goal in the 16th minute left sellers collecting a nice win of 143x their stake.

NOVAK DJOKOVIC v JANNIK SINNER – DJO/SIN SUPREMACY (SETTLED AT -20)

For the first time since 2018 (apart from 2022 when he was unable to compete), Novak Djokovic will not be lifting the Australian Open title after his 33-game unbeaten run at the tournament came to an end at the hands of Jannik Sinner this morning.

Sinner has long been touted as one of the world’s best youngsters, but he produced some of his best stuff for the Rod Laver Arena crowd as he triumphed 6-1, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 to reach a maiden Grand Slam final.

Sinner was the 7/4 outsider going into the match and for those that backed him on our Supremacy tennis spread betting market, there was profit to be made. Djokovic was the 5.5-8.5 on a spread which awards ten points to the winning player and five points for every set won by.

A two set win for the young Italian saw the market settle at -20 as sellers aced a win of 25.5x their opening stake.

NEWCASTLE 25TH JANUARY – FAVOURITES (SETTLED AT 145)

Eyes turned to the all-weather track at Gosforth Park last night for a card of evening racing and it was a good night for favourite backers who would have left the track with wallets bulging.

Punters certainly saw Optik coming in the opener at 10/11 before Call To Action and Marcello Si made it three winning favourites out of three. Pallas Lord and Rory were both touched off into second but Bonito Cavalo and Sybil Charm landed the last two.

With five favourites winning and two coming home in second place, those who bought on our Favourites horse racing spread betting market landed a touch. This spread, which awards 25 points for a winning favourite, 10 points for coming second and five points for third, settled at 145 against a pre-card spread of 91-95 as buyers won 50x their stake.

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
