The Foxes have really ridden their luck to remain in 3rd, the club able to expand their lead over Chelsea to 5 points with a victory over Aston Villa at 8pm on Sky Sports Premier League.

This is despite Leicester only picking up 2 league wins in 2020, and none in their last 4 fixtures. They’ve had more successful in the FA Cup, admittedly, but even then they’ve grinded past Wigan, Brentford and Birmingham.

The big difference between the first half of the season and now is that Jamie Vardy’s goalscoring well has run dry. The 33-year old – who is still the league’s joint top-scorer on 17 goals – hasn’t found the back of the net this year, his last goal coming on the 21st December.

That he will be coming up against the joint-worst defending in the league could help ameliorate that situation. Villa are currently in 19th place on 25 points, but crucially with 2 games in hand over their relegation rivals. Win both of those and they can lift up to 15th place.

Dean Smith’s side actually have reason to think they can get something from Monday’s match. During January’s EFL Cup semi-finals Villa got a 1-1 draw in Leicester, before beating the Foxes 2-1 at home.

Stuck at the bottom of Serie A, Brescia have only won 4 games all season, the last coming on December 14th. Since then they’ve lost 7 and drawn 3, leaving them a near-lock for relegation on 16 points.

Can they buck that trend on Monday night? La Leonessa travels to 13th place Sassuolo, a side that are coming off a 1-0 loss at home to Parma?
