Spread Bets Of The Day
The African Cup of Nations final, the start of the 2019 Rugby Championship and some more pre-season friendless all feature in our Spread Bets of the Day! 1. Senegal vs Algeria – Sadio Mane SMM, 18-22Somewhat surprisingly, Senegal have never won the African Cup of Nations. In fact they’ve only been in the final once before 2019, losing to Cameroon all the way back in 2002. Sadly they are up against a side that have already beaten them in this year’s competition. Algeria won that group stage game 1-0, part of a run that has seen the Riyad Mahrez and co. yet to lose a game (admittedly they only got past Ivory Coast on penalties, and needed an injury time winner from their captain against Nigeria). What better time, then, for Sadio Mane to rediscover his scoring boots. Though he has 3 goals in Egypt, he failed to find the back of the net in the quarter- and semi-finals, leaving him at a slightly reduced SMM spread of 18-22. 2. South Africa vs Australia – South Africa Hotshots, 39-43The Wallabies had a terrible 2018, only managing 4 wins in 13 test matches. South Africa, meanwhile, were the only side to beat winners New Zealand in the Rugby Championship, making them one of only 2 nations to do so throughout the entirety of last year. Ahead of the competition curtain raiser, Spreadex are offering a South Africa Hotshots spread of 39-43. The group is made up of Warrick Gelant, Sbu Nkosi, Jesse Kriel and Makazole Mapimpi, with 25 points per try scored by the named players (and 8 points per player who does not appear during 80 minutes). 3. Argentina vs New Zealand – New Zealand Win by 16-20 Points, 11.1-16.7Eventual victors New Zealand easily won both of their meetings against Argentina in last year’s Rugby Championship, by 22 points in Nelson and 18 points in Buenos Aires. Heavily fancied to beat Los Pumas once again, the better question is perhaps by how much – New Zealand are at a Win by 16-20 Points binary spread of 11.1-16.7. 4. Newcastle vs West Ham – Total Goal Minutes, 138-148After a 4-0 drubbing on the day of his appointment, Steve Bruce will be hoping for a better start to his tenure as Newcastle manager when the Tyneside team take on West Ham in the Asia Trophy 3rd place play-off. Given that West Ham lost their last game 4-1 to Man City, this combination of leaky defences will hopefully result in some goals. Spreadex are offering a Total Goal Minutes spread of 138-148. 5. Liverpool vs Borussia Dortmund – 1st Match Goal, 28-31Jurgen Klopp comes up against his old club in Liverpool’s latest friendly, the Scouse side meeting Borussia Dortmund in Indiana fat 1am on LFCTV in the early hours of Saturday morning. It’ll be the Reds’ first real test of the nascent season, having already beaten Tranmere Rovers 6-0 and Bradford City 3-1. The Champions League winners have come out of the gate early in both of those previous friendless, leading to a 1st Match Goal spread of 28-31.
