Spread Bets Of The Day

Big Weekend Winners 25.07.2022

WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?

Domestic football gets underway in England next weekend and with the final pre-season matches taking place over the weekend and the coming days, excitement is starting to build ahead of the new season.

However, before football takes over this column again, we thought we would take a look back on the weekend’s sport away from the football pitch and there was still plenty to keep us entertained. Michael van Gerwen claimed his third World Matchplay title with a stunning comeback win over Gerwyn Price and St Helens survived a scare against Wakefield to cement their place at the top of the Super League.

With plenty of action across the globe we have highlighted three spreads from our 50-25-10 markets, but did you know that these aren’t just limited to horse racing? Read on to find out more.

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.

WOMEN’S JAVELIN – KELSEY-LEE BARBER 50-25-10 (SETTLED AT 50)

Cathy Freeman is a legend when it comes to Australian athletics and until a few days ago, the 2000 Olympic champion was the only Aussie to successfully defend a World Championship title.

That was before Kelsey-Lee Barber pulled some heroics out of the bag to secure javelin gold in Oregon over the weekend. Having come home from Tokyo with a bronze medal, South Africa-born Barber launched a whopping 66.91m throw in the third round to clinch victory.

Not only did it secure her top spot on the podium, the throw is also world-leading. For a moment, it looked as though a famous Australian one-two was on the cards, but Mackenzie Little’s challenge wilted in the final two rounds as Kara Winger from the USA took silver and Japan’s Haruka Kitaguchi claimed the bronze at Hayward Field.

Buyers will have been delighted that Barber didn’t fade as they claimed a win of 43x their stake after the Aussie was priced 5-7 before a javelin was thrown in anger.

KING GEORGE VI and QUEEN ELIZABETH STAKES – PYLEDRIVER 50-25-10 (SETTLED AT 50)

The King George was supposed to have been a battle between Emily Upjohn, Westover, and Mishriff as three classy horses battled it out to claim the £708,875 prize money for finishing first alongside the prestige of winning one of the biggest flat races of the year.

As it was, no explanation could be provided for the poor run from Emily Upjohn who was pulling hard throughout before weakening with 2 furlongs to go, whilst Westover blew his chances by travelling too freely over the 1m3f race.

Two of the market outsiders were therefore left to pick up the pieces and it was the globetrotting Pyledriver - whose previous four runs had been at Epsom, Meydan (UAE), Riyadh (KSA), and Sha Tin (HK) – who landed the spoils. German-raider and reigning Arc champion Torquator Tasso came second for Marcel Weiss.

As the horses went to post, the spread on Pyledriver was 5-7 as buyers landed a win of 43x their stake. Torquator Tasso buyers were also rewarded with a win of 17x their stake for coming home in second.

13:28 24TH JULY PELAW GRANGE – GLENGIBLINPIPPIN 50-25-10 (SETTLED AT 50)

A day out at the dogs can be plenty of fun, especially if you are backing winners and one race at Pelaw Grange on Sunday threw up a surprise result.

Glengiblinpippin hadn’t come home in front for a long time and was duly priced up at 3-5 as they entered the traps but having pinged the start, she led all the way to make all for owner and trainer Mr R McCarthy. Mr McCarthy also trained the favourite in Glengiblin Lease who only managed to come home in fourth.

Cornforth Remus, who was bumped in the first bend came home in second with Tarryburn Black finishing a further ¾ lengths back in third. Buyers of Glengiblinpippin needn’t have worried about the places though as they collected a win of 45x their stake.

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
