Spread Bets Of The Day

Big Midweek Winners

The FA Cup has taken centre stage this week and although Everton were able to halt the valiant run of Boreham Wood, there will be at least two lower-league sides in the hat for the next round as Middlesbrough beat Tottenham to set up a plum tie at home to Chelsea. The winners of Nottingham Forest v Huddersfield on Monday evening will play Liverpool.

Away from the football there was action in the darts with Michael van Gerwen landing Premier League spoils in Exeter and Richard Agar’s Leeds Rhinos side got their first Super League win of the season as they vanquished local rivals Wakefield.

With so much to get stuck into, we have crunched the numbers and looked at where the markets with big potential profit occurred over the past few days.

Please remember that, unlike fixed odds, losses can exceed deposit when spread betting.

PROVENCE v BAYONNE MATCH MULTI-POINTS (SETTLED AT 1316)

There was only one match worthy of note this week in rugby union and it came in the Pro D2 as title-chasing Bayonne headed east to face Provence at Stade Maurice David.

Those tuning in to watch were treated to a high-scoring affair. After just ten minutes there were already 18 points on the board as the visitors led 10-8 thanks to a converted try from Jean Monbirot and a penalty goal from Gaetan Germain.

Provence soon clicked into gear and by the time hooker Maxime Delonca crossed for Bayonne in the 75th minute the game was already up with the hosts running out 46-29 winners to keep their play-off hopes alive.

Before kick-off, the Match Multi-Points market was set at 500-544 but with it settling at 1316, buyers were able to convert 772x their stake.

MIDDLESBROUGH v TOTTENHAM TOTAL GOAL MINUTES x CORNERS (SETTLED AT 0)

Tottenham are something of a boom or bust side at the minute and they went from a superb win away at Manchester City to a dismal defeat against Burnley which was followed by a thumping win over a hapless Leeds United side.

Boro coach Chris Wilder could have been forgiven for wondering which Spurs side would turn up for their FA Cup clash on Tuesday, but Antonio Conte opted to name a full-strength side with star men Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son lining up in attack.

Goals were likely to be in the offing then, especially with Spurs coming off that 4-0 win over Leeds, however, some stout defence and some sluggish play from the Premier League side left the match at 0-0 and heading to extra-time.

That was a real result for sellers on the Total Goal Minutes x Corners market (aggregate of all the minutes goals were scored multiplied by the corner count) which was set at 1425x1550 before the match and settled at 0. As this was a 90 minute only market sellers did not need to worry about Josh Coburn’s 107th minute winner as they landed a win of 1425x their stake.

PERRY v ALLEN FRAME 7 MULTI-POINTS (SETTLED AT 4712)

Joe Perry’s Round of 32 match against Mark Allen was a cracker by anyone’s book, especially if you were a buyer of the Frame 7 Multi-Points market, which sees both players scores multiplied together.

In a see-sawing affair, both men had taken the lead at various stages but after six frames of scintillating action, the pair were locked at 3-3 with a deciding frame to come.

The Frame 7 Multi-Points market was set at 1557-1707 but that was swiftly blown out of the water as both players put on a show. In the end, it was Perry who prevailed over the former world number four to seal his place in the last 16 of the Welsh Open courtesy of a 76-62 victory in the final frame.

The market settled at 4712 and buyers were left tickled pink as they potted a win equal to 3005x their original stake.
