Big Weekend Winning Bets

weekends-big-winning-bets-28022022-landing-page-header

If the past weekend can’t get you talking about sport, then quite frankly nothing would.

We had an icon return as Christian Eriksen stepped out for Brentford whilst another departed as Marcelo Bielsa was given his marching orders from Elland Road. In the capital, England survived a comeback from Wales to make it two wins from three in the Six Nations and Liverpool lifted the League Cup for the first time since 2012 with a shootout win over Chelsea.

North of the border, the Grand Slam remains on for France after their triumph at Murrayfield and in the squared circle, Jack Catterall departed with his reputation enhanced tenfold after an excellent performance in Glasgow. The belts remain in Scotland though as Josh Taylor received a somewhat controversial victory by split decision in front of his home crowd.

So after all that, where was the potential for profit to be found?

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, losses can exceed deposits when spread betting.

LIVERPOOL v CHELSEA GOALS x CORNERS x BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 0)

The League Cup is a competition that teams don’t take seriously until they get to the final and so it proved on Sunday with Liverpool and Chelsea going at it for 120 minutes. Despite the fact the match finished scoreless, there was still plenty of entertainment with four goals disallowed and Sadio Mane and Mason Mount missing chances they would normally expect to score in their sleep.

One of the big wins though came in the Goals x Corners x Bookings market which was set at 1075-1200 before kick-off. With no goals scored, the number of corners and booking points paled into insignificance as sellers collected a win equal to 1075x their stake.

It was not all doom and gloom for buyers though as those who liked the look of a penalty shootout came out on the right side in the Stop At a Penalty Miss market. Priced up at 4.7-6.7 before the match this market adds 10 points for every shootout penalty and stops when one is missed. With 22 penalties taken until the unfortunate Kepa Arrizabalaga blazed his over the bar, the market settled at 220 and buyers landed a win 213.3x their stake.

DAMIEN PENAUD SUPER MEGA MINUTES (SETTLED AT 208)

France extended their perfect record in this year’s Six Nations with a 19-point win over Scotland in Edinburgh on Saturday afternoon in a match that featured one of the biggest makeups of the three Six Nations matches.

Clermont winger Damien Penaud helped had scored tries on both of his previous visits to Murrayfield and he was back at it again as he helped himself to a brace against Gregor Townsend’s side.

Helpfully for those who backed Penaud Super Mega Minutes (aggregate of Penaud’s try minutes, but the second try minute counts double and the third would have counted treble) he scored them relatively late on.

The first came bang on the hour mark and he dived over six minutes from time to settle the market at 208. With the spread at 27-30 as the national anthems boomed out, buyers were left singing La Marseillaise as they landed a win of 178x their stake.

HULL FC MULTI-POINTS (SETTLED AT 560)

It had been a mixed start of the season for Hull FC after an opening week win over Wakefield was followed by a hammering at home against Saints in a match where captain Luke Gale copped a hefty suspension.

On Sunday they welcomed unbeaten Salford to the banks of the Humber with the hosts made as 4-point favourites on the handicap and looking to ignite their season.

They did so in spectacular fashion.

A first half double from Cam Scott was added to with tries from Darnell McIntosh and Fijian rake Joe Lovodua leaving the Black and Whites 20-6 up at the break. They powered on in the second half as well with five further tries scored - including a brace from Jordan Lane - as Brett Hodgson’s side spoiled Marc Sneyd’s homecoming.

With a final score of 48-16, those who bought Hull FC Multi-Points (their first half points total multiplied by their second) were in clover as the market settled at 560 versus a pre-match spread of 124x146, netting a win of 414x their stake.
