Spread Bets Of The Day

Big Midweek Winners

Storm Dudley has been battering the UK this week and with Storm Eunice on the way, it is a good time to hunker down and watch some top-quality sport. With the Champions League knockout rounds taking centre stage, viewers and punters alike have been spoiled for choice with plenty on offer to keep us entertained.

Ahead of a weekend which sees old rivals Manchester United travel to Leeds United, graded races at Wincanton, Ascot, and Haydock as well as Amir Khan and Kell Brook finally facing off, we review the big winning bets from this week.

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, losses can exceed deposits when spread betting.

INTER v LIVERPOOL CROSS-BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 0)

The Cross-Bookings market - total booking points for each side multiplied together - was set at 425-495 on Wednesday evening as Jurgen Klopp’s side looked to secure a vital away leg advantage at the San Siro.

Polish referee Szymon Marciniak had handed out an average of 37.5 booking points in the Champions League so far this season with 15 yellow cards being flashed in his four matches (10 points for a yellow, 25 for a red, maximum of 35 points per player).

Marciniak drew praise for letting the game go from the BT Sport commentary team and in contributing to an enjoyable spectacle he kept his cards in his back pocket all evening. With neither side picking up a booking the spread settled at zero and sellers were in clover as they made 425x their stake.

WETHERBY MULTI-MULES (SETTLED AT 421)

The Multi-Mules is a great market to play if you plan on settling down to watch an afternoon’s racing although given the weather at Wetherby on Wednesday, let’s hope you watched from indoors!

This market is settled based on the winner’s racecard number multiplied by the racecard number of the second placed horse. These numbers are then added up over the whole card and for Wetherby, we set the spread at 196-216.

Buyers were left sweating after the first two races had delivered a total of just 16, but things soon got going and by the time 2/1 favourite Camembert Electric (number nine) beat Economic Editor (number 16) in the lucky last, the spread had settled at 421. Shrewd punters were no doubt dancing with delight as they collected 205x their stake.

EXETER v HARROGATE GOALS CUBED (SETTLED AT 343)

On paper, a meeting between Exeter and Harrogate on a wet and windy night doesn’t exactly set pulses racing, but for the 3,852 inside St James’ Park, this was a night to remember.

Goals from Luke Armstrong, Jack Muldoon, and George Thompson had put the visitors 3-1 up after 64 minutes, but Exeter still had plenty of fight left in them.

The Grecians halved the deficit in the 71st minute and by the time Tim Dieng levelled the affair ten minutes later, a famous comeback was well and truly on.

With Exeter pushing for a fourth, it was substitute Jack Sparkes who duly obliged in the fifth minute of injury time, sending the home fans and those who bought Goals Cubed wild with the result lifting them into the automatic promotion spots.

The spread was set at 37-43 and a seven goal thriller left the market to settle at 343 banishing any chances of buyer’s remorse as they bagged 290x their stake.
