Spread Bets Of The Day
On Monday and Tuesday night we saw a range of sporting action from around the world with Real Madrid facing Rayo Vallecano in La Liga, New Orlean Saints hosting Baltimore Ravens in the NFL and Carlisle travelling to Harrogate in League Two.
As ever on a Wednesday we review Monday and Tuesday’s sport to find out where punters could have won big on our spread betting markets.
Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.
RAYO VALLECANO V REAL MADRID – GOALS X CORNERS X BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 4050)
Real Madrid travelled to Rayo Vallecano on Monday night looking to regain top spot from their archrivals Barcelona however, the Los Blancos were shocked early on when Santi Comesa put the hosts into an early lead.
The Champions League holders responded as expected, with Luka Modric’s penalty and Eder Militao’s header turning the game on its head to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. When it just looked like Real Madrid had got a grip of the game Spanish winger Alvaro Garcia equalised on the stroke of halftime meaning the sides went in level at the break.
A thrilling encounter which included 31 shots at goal, one of which ended up in a balcony of a nearby apartment from Federico Valverde, had one more twist when Oscar Trejo’s penalty for the hosts was saved by Thibaut Courtois with the keeper judged to be off his line forcing a retake. Trejo made no mistake from his second attempt as he ensured Real Madrid suffered their first defeat in La Liga this season!
But where was the value for the punters?
With there being five goals, nine bookings and nine corner kicks the Goals X Corners X Bookings market made up at a whopping 4050 (5 x 90 x 9 = 4050). With a pre-match spread of 1275-1400 being offered, punters who decided to buy won a massive 2650x their stake!
NEW ORLEAN SAINTS V BALTIMORE RAVENS – LAUNCH! (SETTLED AT 738)
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Baltimore Ravens travelled to New Orlean Saints looking to make it three wins in a row and extend their lead at the top of the AFC North Division.
The visitors started impressively taking a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter before a late field goal from the Saints reduced the deficit to 14-3 at the halfway stage.
The Ravens' defence continued to dominate the Saints' offensive line, holding the Saints to just 243 yards the fewest the hosts had run all season. The remaining quarters were much tighter than the first with the visitors edging it 13-10 to give them a 27-13 victory to continue their fine form and heap more misery on the struggling Saints.
With the longest completed pass and longest run from scrimmage being relatively low in this match, the Launch market made up at 738. With a pre-match spread of 1400-1600 offered, punters who decided to sell won 662x their stake!
HARROGATE V CARLISLE – TOTAL GOAL MINUTES (SETTLED AT 316)
On Tuesday evening Harrogate hosted Carlisle in League Two with both sides needing a result for different reasons with the hosts looking to edge away from the relegation zone while the visitors looked to cement their play-off spot.
The first half was full of action which saw 19 efforts at goal which resulted in a goal apiece for the two sides with Carlisle youngster Taylor Charters getting on the scoresheet before Harrogate striker Luke Armstrong levelled the tie halfway through the first half.
The action continued to come thick and fast in the second half with another Carlisle youngster, Ryan Edmondson putting the away side ahead before two quick goals from Warren Burrell and Jaheim Headley put the hosts ahead.
The game looked dead and buried for the away side before Owen Moxon equalised in the 93rd minute to earn the visitors a share of the spoils.
With there being six match goals and one coming right at the death the Total Goal Minutes market made up at 316 (12 + 28 + 50 + 60 + 76 + 90 = 316). With a pre-match spread of 121-131 offered, punters who decided to buy won 185x their stake!
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
