Midweek's Big Winning Bets

midweeks-big-winning-bets-06052022-landing-page-header

It has been crunch time in Europe this week and it was certainly a mixed bag for the British teams still left in European competition as three of our sides bowed out in the semi-finals. Liverpool and Rangers though remain in the hunt for European glory, but will either be celebrating in a few weeks?

It was the start of the play-offs in the EFL with a mouth-watering clash between fallen giants Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday taking place this evening whilst the best racing this week has been at the Chester May Festival, which has featured plenty of pointers for the Classics to come later in the season.

If you are after inspiration for your weekend’s punting then look no further as we highlight three big winning spread make-ups from the past week.

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, losses can exceed deposits when spread betting.

VILLARREAL v LIVERPOOL – SHIRTS x BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 4615)

Villarreal’s Champions League dream ended on Tuesday but they went out in style and at half-time, it looked as though the dream comeback might well be on for the Yellow Submarine.

First-half goals from Boulaye Dia (number 16) and Francis Coquelin (19) had given the Spaniards hope, yet that was to go up in smoke in the space of five second-half minutes. First, Fabinho (3) pulled one back after 62 minutes before Colombian sensation Luis Diaz (23) restored parity on the night.

Sadio Mane (10) wrapped up the scoring after an error from Geronimo Rulli as shirt numbers settled at 71. Thanks to Etienne Capoue picking up the maximum booking points of 35 for collecting a second yellow, as well as three other bookings on the night it was a great evening for those who bought Shirts x Bookings.

Before kick-off on the Spanish coast, the spread was set at 1600-1775 meaning that buyers landed a win equal to 2840x their stake.

EINTRACHT FRANKFURT v WEST HAM – MULTI-BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 2250)

Despite Liverpool’s triumph in Spain, it was ultimately heartbreak for the English sides left in Europe as Leicester, Manchester City and West Ham all exited their respective competitions at the final four stage.

Heading to Germany with just a one-goal deficit, West Ham would have been confident in turning the tie around, but Aaron Cresswell’s second red card of the European campaign after just 19 minutes severely damaged their chances.

Frankfurt ultimately won an ill-tempered affair and whilst those who got involved with goal markets would have been better selling than buying, the bookings markets saw some big make-ups.

This multiplies the total number of booking points in the first half (45) by the number received in the second half (55), leaving the total at Deutsche Bank Park at 2250. The pre-match spread was 500-600 as buyers collected a win equal to 1650x their stake.

JONNY CLAYTON v JAMES WADE – HIGHEST CHECKOUT x TOTAL 180s (SETTLED AT 156)

Jonny Clayton won his fourth Premier League event in six on Thursday evening as he beat James Wade, Gary Anderson, and Michael van Gerwen to extend his lead at the top of the standings in front of 10,000 in Glasgow.

The Ferret is the first player to secure is place in the play-offs and he will likely be joined by two of his vanquished foes from Thursday: Wade and van Gerwen.

The Clayton v Wade clash in the quarter-final wasn’t exactly a high quality affair, but that was good news for those who sold on the Highest Checkout x Total 180s market. With both players scoring just one maximum each, it was the Welshman who claimed the highest checkout with a meagre 78 as the spread settled at 156.

The trading team were expecting plenty more excitement than that, having set the spread at 544-589 before an arrow was thrown in anger. Sellers on the spread hit a bullseye with a win equal to 388x their stake.

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
