Who will win the 149th Open Championship? Plus What Happens Next? and more

England are bowling against Pakistan in the 3rd ODI but Imam Ul-Haq is proving tricky to dislodge from the stumps - What Happens Next?

WHO WILL WIN THE OPEN?

The two-year wait for an Open Championship will be over from 06:35 BST on Thursday morning when England's Richard Bland hits the opening tee shot at Royal St George's, as the rescheduled 149th Championship takes place after the COVID cancellation in 2020.

Bland will lead out a 156-strong field with Ireland's Shane Lowry arriving at the Kent course as defending champion, having won the Claret Jug with a 6-shot victory at Royal Portrush in 2019.

Six different major champions have been crowned since The Open was last played, with four of those - Bryson DeChambeau, Collin Morikawa, Hideki Matsuyama and Jon Rahm - being first-time major winners.

Japan's Matsuyama will not be present, with the Masters champion among a number of players, including 2015 winner Zach Johnson, to withdraw for COVID-related reasons.

Rahm will enter the Championship with a lot of expectation around his chances - he is available on the Spreadex Tournament Winner markets at 15-18 on the spreads, with his nearest challengers projected to be Brooks Koepka at 10-13, and Jordan Spieth at 9-12. Rory McIlroy is a slightly less-favoured option at 7-9.

Of the six most-recent major winners, which also include world number one Dustin Johnson, only Phil Mickelson has previously won the Open while Spain's Rahm is bidding to become the first player to follow a US Open victory by lifting the Claret Jug since Tiger Woods in 2000.

With an exciting and usually-unpredictable tournament likely to be the case once more, there are plenty of ways to get involved with Spreadex Sports. Our markets - away from the standard Tournament Winner and Leaderboard betting - also include matchbets, Round and End-of-Round scores, Hole Specials, Hotshots, who will Make/Miss the Cut, and much more!
