FOOTBALL

The excitement is building ahead of the Premier League’s return this weekend!
Watford welcome Liverpool to Vicarage Road for the early game on Saturday as Claudio Ranieri starts his presumably short tenure as Hornets boss with the visit of mighty Liverpool.

The Reds are an industry-best 4/11 to win at Watford, with the hosts 8/1 for victory. But don’t forget, the last time Liverpool were in town, last February, their march towards the title was given an almighty jolt with a 3-0 defeat at Watford.
Jurgen Klopp’s side had come into the game with designs on going the whole season undefeated, and were going for a record 19th straight top flight victory. But Watford had other ideas.

It’s 66/1 if you fancy Watford to repeat that 3-0 scoreline, and spread punters might be interested in Ismaila Sarr at 10-13 Player Goal Minutes, or 14-18 Super Mega minutes, which doubles any second goal minutes and trebles a third. Sarr scored twice in that stunning upset.

Mo Salah has a fantastic record against Watford with 8 goals in 6 games, and has been in scintillating form so far this season. The Egyptian is 27/10 favourite to get the first goal. Remember, if you back a first scorer with Spreadex and he scores last instead, our First Goalscorer Insurance gives you your stake back, up to £25, as a free bet.

Spreadex-sponsored Burnley make their least favourite trip of the season to Manchester City in the 3pm kick-offs.
The Clarets have lost their 4 trips to Manchester City 5-0, and you could easily make a case for a repeat on Saturday at 3pm.

It’s 12/1 City win 5-0 for a 5th time against a Burnley side missing their defensive rock Ben Mee, who has Covid.
The total goals spread is 3.4-3.6, Total Goal Minutes is 171-186, and the Man City Goal Rush (which awards points per goal scored, 10 points for 1 goal, 20 for 2, 33 for 3, 50 for 4, 70 for 5 and 100 for 6 or more) is set at 36-39.

The West Midlands derby between Aston Villa and Wolves is also a Saturday 3pm kick-off. Villa are favourites, priced an industry-best 13/10 with Spreadex sportsbook, Wolves the 5/2 underdogs. Wolves have struggled for goals this season, but there was a lot of positivity about the link-up between Raul Jiminez and Hwang Hee-Chan. Hwang scored both goals in the 2-1 defeat of Newcastle last time out.

Hwang is 8/1 to get the first goal in the derby, Villa’s Danny Ings the favourite at 19/4.
Brentford host West London neighbours Chelsea in the evening game, and despite some impressive performances that have seen them beat Arsenal and hold Liverpool, they’re an industry-best 11/2 to beat the Blues.

Leaders Chelsea are 8/13 favourites to get the victory, with Romelu Lukaku the 29/10 favourite for first goal.
Sunday sees David Moyes go back to his former club as West Ham travel to Everton. The Hammers are 19/10 to leave Goodison with the three points, with Everton 13/8 favourites.

Sunday afternoon sees the now super-rich but still not very good at football Newcastle welcome Spurs to St James’ Park.
Tottenham are 23/20 to take the three points back to London, with the Magpies 13/5 to claim a first win of the season.

HORSE RACING

It’s Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday, the richest day in British racing that traditionally brings down the curtain on the flat season.

As well as four Group 1 races and two Group 2s, there’s extra spice as the champion jockey will be crowned.

This week started with two-time defending champion jockey Oisin Murphy 6 wins clear, but William Buick has been like a man possessed and got within one on Thursday night at Chelmsford and again on Friday at Haydock.

The pair left Haydock with Murphy the happier after taking the last race for a second win of the day, meaning Murphy is three wins ahead going into Champions Day.

Buick did receive a boost to his chances when it was announced Adayar will run in the 3.50 Champion Stakes. The Derby and King George winner slotted in as 2/1 second favourite in a race Murphy doesn’t currently have a ride in.

TENNIS

Cameron Norrie is enjoying a mini-Raducanu of a week at the Indian Wells Masters. Having never made a Masters 1000 quarter-final before, the left-hander thrashed Diego Schwartzman in the last 8 here to qualify for a semi-final which should start around 2am Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Norrie, who has done enough this week to move into the world’s top 20 for the first time and take over as British number 1, faces experienced Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov for a place in the final.
Spreadex price it as a pick ‘em, both players 9/10 for victory.

SNOOKER

A fantastic week of snooker at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall draws to a close with Sunday’s Northern Ireland Open final, held over two sessions, one in the afternoon and one evening.

The last three Northern Ireland Open finals have seen Judd Trump beat Ronnie O’Sullivan, but after Trump’s quarter-final defeat to home favourite Mark Allen on Friday afternoon, and the Rocket losing to Yan Bingtao on Thursday night, it will be all change on Sunday.

Who will be the new champion?
