Chelsea v Liverpool, weekend racing, WHN? and more

FOOTBALL

The first domestic silverware of the season is on offer this Sunday as Chelsea face off against Liverpool in the League Cup final at Wembley. In their last five meetings in all competitions Liverpool have won twice, Chelsea once and two draws: making this weekend’s contest wide open.

Chelsea will be hoping to make it two trophies secured in February after their Club World Cup victory earlier in the month. Goals from Havertz & Pulisic was enough to overcome Lille in the Champions League in the week, and with both Lukaku and Werner not doing enough to nail down their place this season, it could mean Chelsea looking towards Havertz once again leading from the front.

Liverpool netted six past Leeds United on Wednesday night, including two penalties from talisman Mo Salah, meaning they’re now only 3 points behind league leaders Manchester City. They will be looking to take this confidence into the final of the League Cup, a competition they haven’t won since 2012.
