Basketball spread betting is a way of betting on a 'spread' or prediction of outcomes to happen in a basketball game. Step 1: Choose a spread market on a match. E.g. the 'spread' on Total Points may be 230-234.Step 2: Decide if you think the final outcome will be higher or lower than the spread.Step 3: If higher (e.g. more than 234 points) you would buy. If lower (fewer than 230 points) you would sell.Step 4: Your profit or loss depends on the difference between your buy or sell level and the final outcome, multiplied by your stake.See more in our short video on basketball spread betting.

To place a basketball spread bet, look at the Spreadex prediction or spread on the market in question. If you think the outcome will be higher than our price, then you would buy on the spread. If you think the outcome will be lower than our price, then you would sell on the spread. The more right you are the more you can win, but the opposite is the case if you get it wrong, as you may lose more than your initial stake.
It’s the 1st game of the NBA finals, and you think the favourites are going to be in particularly high-scoring form, so take a look at Spreadex’s Team Points spread betting market. Spreadex is offering a Team A Points spread of 110-113. You buy £20 at 113. Team A then goes on to win the first game with 123 points, leaving you with a profit of £200 ((123 – 113) x £20). Even if they only scored 115 points, you would still even up making a profit of £40 ((115 – 113) x £20). However, if they struggled on the night, and managed to score a mere 105 points, you would incur a loss of £160 ((105 – 113) x £20).
Ahead of the opening game of the NBA season, you think Team B are overrated, so take a look at Spreadex’s Team Points spread betting market. Spreadex is offering Team B Points at 112-115. You decide to sell £20 at 112. At the end of a rough night Team B only managed to score 100 points, leaving you with a profit of £240. Say, instead, Team B score 108 points. You would still end up with a profit of £80 ((112 – 108) x £20). But, if Team B went on a bit of a tear, and scored 121 points, you would be left with a loss of £180 ((112 – 121) x £20).
This is the predicted margin, in points, by which one team will beat another. The price, or spread, will indicate which team is being placed as favourite over the other. Points Supremacy: A prediction of the difference in points between Team A and Team B. For example, Spreadex may quote Team A 4.5-7.5 over Team B. If Team A wins by 10 points, the market would make up at 10. However, if Team B won by 10 runs then the market would make up at -10. If you bought at 7.5 and Team A won, that would mean your winnings would be 2.5 times your initial stake. However if Team A lost, you would lose 5.5 times your initial stake. Supremacy Plus: Here the winner of the match receives 10 points plus a further point for every point won by. Quarter/Half Supremacy: These are Points Supremacy spreads, but for an individual quarters or halves rather than across the entire game.
Total Points: This is the total number of points in a game. For example, Spreadex may offer a spread of 230-234. If you think there would be more than 234 runs scored you would buy at that price; if you think there would be fewer than 230 runs, you would sell. Team Points: This is the total number of points scored by an individual team across a match. Quarter/Half Points: Spreadex also offers prices on the number of points in an individual quarter or half, be it Team or Total Points.
