Rugby League spread betting is a way of betting on a 'spread' or prediction of outcomes to happen in a fight. Step 1: Choose a spread market on a match. E.g. the 'spread' on Total Tries may be 5.5-6. Step 2: Decide if you think the final outcome will be higher or lower than the spread. Step 3: If higher (e.g. more than 6 tries) you would buy. If lower (fewer than 5.5 tries) you would sell. Step 4: Your profit or loss depends on the difference between your buy or sell level and the final outcome, multiplied by your stake.See more in our short video on rugby spread betting.

To place a Rugby League spread bet, look at the Spreadex prediction or spread on the market in question. If you think the outcome will be higher than our price, then you would buy on the spread. If you think the outcome will be lower than our price, then you would sell on the spread. The more right you are the more you can win, but the opposite is the case if you get it wrong, as you may lose more than your initial stake.
Try our interactive widget below for examples of how rugby league spread betting works for a theoretical £10 bet on different markets. Alternatively, read on for more examples explaining how to place a rugby league spread bet. The widget shows in more detail how spread betting markets can differ in volatility. For example, the range of the outcomes for a Match Multi-Points or Total Try Minutes spread bet is greater than for the Tryscorers' Shirts or Match Points markets, which in turn are more volatile than Match Tries. Therefore, it is important to choose a stake level you are comfortable with for different markets. Try using the widget for different rugby league markets to see how potential profit and loss levels can vary. This will help you practice rugby league spread betting and give you an idea of how the markets work before you try for real yourself.
You think the morning’s NRL fixture is going to be a try-heavy affair, so you take a look at Spreadex’s Total Tries spread betting market. Spreadex is offering a Total Tries spread of 7.3-7.8. You choose to buy £50 at 7.8. There ends being 10 tries in the match, leaving you with a profit of £110 ((10 – 7.8) x £50). Even if the game only features 8 tries, you would still be able to make a small profit of £10 ((8 – 7.8) x £50). However, if only 6 tries were scored during the match, you would incur a loss of £90 ((6 – 7.8) x £50).
Going into the NRL grand final you think the fixture is going to be light on tries, so take a look at Spreadex’s Total Tries spread betting market. Spreadex is offering a Total Tries spread of 7.8-8.3, so you sell £50 at 7.8. Your instincts prove to be correct, and only 5 tries are scored during the match, leaving you with a profit of £140 ((7.8 – 5) x £50). Even if 7 tries were scored during the fixture, you would still come away with a profit of £40 ((7.8 – 7) x £50). But if the game turns out to be a bit of a thriller, with 10 tries scored, you would end up suffering a loss of £110 ((7.8 – 10) x £50).

One of the most popular markets for those interested in rugby league spread betting is our Supremacy market.
Our spread here is based upon our predicted winning margin, in points, by which one team will beat another.

If Team A beats Team B 37-10, then the Supremacy price will make-up at 27 (37-10). But if Team B won 19-15, then the market would make-up at -4 (15-19).
