Daily Spread Betting Round-up

What were the big winning bets in the Carabao Cup?

Tuesday saw goals galore in the Carabao Cup, the most exciting IPL game since the season restarted, and a good day for favourite backers at Warwick Races

How did Spreadex-sponsored Burnley get on in the Carabao Cup?

Burnley 4-1 Rochdale

Jay Rodriguez scored all four goals as Burnley came from behind to ease past local rivals Rochdale in the Carabao Cup 3rd Round. Spreadex donated our shirt sponsorship to the Alzheimer’s Society on World Alzheimer's Day, and JRod excelled in the one-off shirts with four second half goals in 27 minutes after Jake Beesley had put the visitors ahead. Spreadex and Burnley have partnered to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society, with £5 from each third kit sold going to the charity, a sum matched by Spreadex.

Jay Rodriguez Super Mega Minutes (settled at 433)

Buyers of JRod’s SMM spread, set at 54-62 made 371 times their stake as the Burnley striker found the net four times. SMM bets total the goal minutes of the player, but second goals count double, and third count treble. Buyers of JRod’s Player Goal Minutes (33-36) also enjoyed a good night, winning 260 times their bet on the 296 settlement.

Who else was among the goals in the Carabao Cup?

Brentford 7-0 Oldham

Brentford had their own four-goal hero, with Marcus Forss bagging a first half hattrick before adding another on the hour as the Bees advanced to the last 16 with a 7-0 thrashing of League Two strugglers Oldham. This game was over by half-time, with Forss scoring twice in the first 16 minutes before three goals in the seven minutes before the break saw Brentford go in five up.

Brentford Goal Minutes (settled at 291)

Goals were expected as Premier League new boys Brentford hosted League Two Oldham, and they didn’t disappoint. A juicy 40-1 to win 7-0 with Spreadex fixed odds, buyers of Brentford Goal Minutes (131-141) made 150 times their stake.

Are Manchester City through in the Carabao Cup?

Man City 6-1 Wycombe

The holders eased to a place in the last 16 with a 6-1 thrashing of League One Wycombe, but not before the visitors had rattled them by taking the lead. Brandon Hanlan was the shock first scorer after 22 minutes, but a much-changed City soon settled down, and were 3-1 up by the time half-time came thanks to goals from Kevin de Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden. After the break, Ferran Torres made it four before Mahrez grabbed his second and 19-year-old Cole Palmer made it six two minutes from time with his first goal for the club.

Man City Goal Rush (settled at 100)

We highlighted yesterday that City, who had score five, five and six at home before Saturday’s goalless stalemate with Southampton, were attracting money on our Goal Rush spread, set at 45-48. The Goal Rush index awards points per goal scored: 0 points for 0 goals, 10 for 1, 20 for 2, 33 for 3, 50 for 4, 70 for 5 and 100 for 6 or more. Not only was Palmer’s first City goal memorable for him, it was memorable for buyers of Man City Goal Rush, ensuring they won the maximum 52 times their stake.

What happened in the IPL game between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings?

In the most exciting IPL game since the action resumed on Sunday, Punjab managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, failing to score the four runs needed off the final over needed for victory. Kartik Tyagi was the Punjab hero, taking two wickets and conceding only one run off the final over.

1st Punjab Kings Wicket (settled at 120)

Helped by some generous fielding, buyers of the 1st Punjab Kings Wicket (32-37) made 83 times their stake as the run chase commenced. Key man KL Rahul was dropped three times on his way to 49, while his opening partner Mayank Agarwal went on to score 67. Rahul was first man out, caught by that man Tyagi off the bowling of Chetan Sakariya.

What happened in Tuesday’s horse racing?

Favourite backers had a good day at Warwick races, with four of the six races won by the most fancied runner.

Favourites (settled at 120)

Buyers of the Favourites spread, set at 58-62, made 58 times their bet as an almost perfect performance from those at the head of the market racked up the points. In this market, points are awarded depending on the favourite’s performance, with 25 for the win, 10 for 2nd and 5 for 3rd. In the first race, 11/8 favourite Cobblers Dream was victorious, and it was two from two when even money favourite Sir Tivo obliged in the second. The appropriately named Isthebaropen made it 75 points from three races, winning at 9/4, but another 9/4 favourite, Quartz Du Rheu, could only manage 2nd in the 3.55. Favourite Pens Man (13/8) won the penultimate race, and while Lutinebella couldn’t make it the perfect finish, 2nd place to winner Betty’s Belle added another 10 points to seal a tidy profit for buyers.
